NEW YORK, Oct 18 (Reuters) - The Las Vegas Aces won their second consecutive WNBA championship with a narrow 70-69 win over the New York Liberty in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.
A'ja Wilson had 24 points and 16 rebounds to help the Aces become the first team to defend their title in more than 20 years with a 12-point comeback win in Brooklyn.
New York, which reached the finals for the first time in 21 years, appeared to be on track to win the title against a much-reduced Aces team, but a number of second-half turnovers cost them dearly.
With starters Chelsea Gray and Kia Stokes out with injuries, the Aces committed eight turnovers in the first quarter.
New York led at halftime thanks to the stellar play of forward Bethenijah Lennie and defenseman Courtney Vandersloot, but Vegas regrouped in the third quarter to take a 23-12 lead.
Although Sabrina Ionescu scored on a jumper with seconds left in the game to bring the score to one, they were unable to win the final scrimmage.
